"Wizz Air will give to the Romanian public the most accessible and convenient flight experience available. We will continue to offer the lowest prices and to introduce new flights to the citizens of Romania and from the region. In approximately six months, Wizz Air will bring the European Union closer to Romanians, through nine regular flights", declared Josef Varadi, the director of Wizz Air.
The airport will have its name changed
The Tîrgu Mureş airport will have its name changed to draw more passengers. The name of the airport will be "Transilvania - Tîrgu Mureş". The authorities think that many foreigners never even heard of our town, but the percentage of those, who heard about Transylvania before, is very high. The city fathers will sustain on the development of the airport.  The improvement of the infrastructure is wanted by the acquisition of new machines and equipment. For example, the ladder from the first Wizzair flight that the passengers used was a second-hand ladder, borrowed from Timişoara, because the Tîrgu Mureş airport does not have one. In case there will be no investments, our airport will lose terrain in the race, to the other airports in the region.
New flights are yet to come
Beginning with next year, Wizz Air will introduce another two flights with the route Tîrgu Mureş - Rome and Tîrgu Mureş - Barcelona. By the end of this year, the representatives of the company estimate they will transport approximately 10,000 passengers only from the Tîrgu Mureş airport. This represents about the total number of passengers in 2005. Wizz Air is the largest low-cost air operator from Central and Eastern Europe. Since the founding of the company in May 2004 until now, the company has transported four million passengers. This summer, the company operates flights in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania. Soon Bucharest and Arad will be added to the air traffic system. Wizz Air owns a young fleet of nine Airbus A320 planes, with a capacity of 180 seats, not more than 3 years old. From the capacity?s point of view, this plane is the maximum limit that the lane of the Tîrgu Mureş airport can support.
